Hunter S Thompson "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" Print
"Morality is temporary, wisdom is permanent." -Hunter S. Thompson
This print was created from the first "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" (Hunter S. Thompson) painting I ever made. At the time, I created a few contrasting "dark art" pieces. All black and white from cult classics such as "Donnie Darko," "Fight Club" (Tyler Durden), "The Dark Knight" (Batman) and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (Willy Wonka).
Starting out, I never planned on selling any of them. They we're deeply personal to me at the time. Yet, due to my lack of living/creating space and my continued need to constantly create, here I am. So to reconcile giving up those special pieces, I photographed them and transformed them into digital prints.
Throughout this process, I combine old-school, traditional art styles and techniques (e.g. paint and canvas) with new-school, experimental concepts and technology (e.g. digital photography and filtering). The contrast between the art itself, in addition to the disparate creation process, emulates the inherent duality expressed in reality.
